Portland Place Instruction
GarnettArchitecture have been appointed as Architect and Lead Designer on refurbishment of a magnificent Grade II* Listed Georgian townhouse off Portland Place. The 1,120sqm property dating from 1770-75, maintains numerous original features throughout and a largely untouched plan form. The project includes restoration of the adjoining mews to the rear which is connected to the main house. The proposals intend a sensitive conservation-led refurbishment of the building, including the removal of harmful features, such as the wall linings and cantilevered WC extension. The project is being undertaken on behalf of a private client, who wishes to restore the property for their own use. Following a positive pre-application enquiry response from City of Westminster, GarnettArchitecture are preparing a full TP & LBC submission with the Design Team which includes Town Planning Consultant Newmark and Heritage Consultant The Built Heritage Consultancy Ltd.
