GarnettArchitecture is an award-winning architectural practice offering a broad range of services including Architecture and Design, Town Planning and Sustainability.

GarnettArchitecture is known for the skilful integration of contemporary new build architecture in heritage environments, and for giving new life to old buildings through adaptive interventions. As Architects much of our design work is carried out in Conservation Areas and the practice has an outstanding record of success with planning applications, particularly with complex sites involving a mix of uses.

GarnettArchitecture is interested in the appropriate use of materials, the use of light, and volume within the spaces we create. Our objective is to release all the potential the project has to offer, for our client, the community and the environment.

Our design philosophy is to treat each project as unique and rather than having a ‘house style’ and we are responsive to each client’s aims and needs. We take pride in the fact that at any one time more than 60% of the practice‘s work is derived from repeat business. Working collaboratively with the client and design team, we lead a creative dialogue to develop an understanding of the client’s aims, culture and values and determine the ambitions of each project. Sustainability is an integral part of good architecture and at GarnettArchitecture we work hard to make the best use of the opportunities presented by each project.

Services

Architecture & Interiors

Our core business is the delivery of excellent architecture and interiors: buildings, internal spaces and places that contribute to their context, communicate thoroughness and quality in their organisation and construction, and perform for their occupiers. We treat interiors as an intrinsic part of the design process and ensure that interior specialists from our firm are involved throughout the development of a project. The practice provides a full range of professional project services under the RIBA Plan of Work and we are known to our clients for our responsive and pro-active approach, and our ability to adapt to an evolving brief.

Adaptive Re-Use

The practice has a wide range of experience in the renovation, conservation and adaptive re-use of heritage building assets, having helped clients bring new life to a variety of structures from early Georgian townhouses to early 20th century office buildings. Working closely with specialists, we strive to find simple, creative solutions to problems such as how to introduce efficient services, how to provide occupier flexibility and how to facilitate expansion in floor area while enhancing features of special interest within the original building.

Workplace

GarnettArchitecture is experienced in office design and fit-out, helping clients create dynamic workspaces to enhance team working, improve communication and provide flexibility to adapt to change. Our workplace consulting team has in-depth knowledge of how good office design and fit-out can substantially improve business performance, enhance clients’ branding and help retain and attract key people. Typical services include site selection and space planning, client brief analysis and leadership of the design process through to completion.

Residential

GarnettArchitecture creates elegant contemporary homes ranging from multi-million pound city developments to stunning individual houses that stylishly fulfill our clients’ requirements. The practice undertakes commissions for developers, landlords and private clients for multiple or one-off new-build homes, as well as apartments and conversion refurbishment/remodeling of existing buildings. Each project is approached as a unique piece of design blending together traditional materials and state-of-the-art technologies to create comfortable, stylish and contemporary homes.

Retail

We work with both landlords and retailers to create environments that appeal to modern shoppers. Our retail team collaborates with the UK’s leading agents and understands the importance of branding and how to create an exciting canvas for retailers to express themselves. We are rolling out projects for leading international brands that embody their cultural ethos, and create a managed, crafted experience to maximize the enjoyment and feel good of their customers.

Heritage

GarnettArchitecture produces in-house statements of significance and heritage assessments, including analysis of effects of new development on archaeology,desk-based assessments and written schemes of investigation. Our heritage team is experienced in engaging with local planning authorities and other statutory consultees such as Historic England and the GLA through the preapplication and full town planning process.
