Berners Street Project Submitted for TP Approval
Design proposals for re-positioning of 37-40 Berners Street by GarnettArchitecture, have been submitted to City of Westminster for Town Planning consent. The 4,600sqm project for Berners-Allsopp Estate involves refurbishment of retail and office reception areas on the ground floor and basement, Cat A fit out of the office floors, removal of flammable cladding to the upper stories and replacement with new glazed brick-cladding. The street-front elevation is to be replaced at ground floor level and expanded to infill an existing dark under-croft area, and the office reception and external terracing is to be upgraded. Proposed works include new HVAC systems, renovation of toilets and new showers, and new end of trip facilities. The inner courtyard is to be infilled at Basement & Ground Floor levels, to create a naturally illuminated ‘atrium’ events space adjoining the reception on the ground floor and balconies are being added at first to fourth floors to provide external amenity to the office floors.
