27-29 High Street in Carshalton

November 2025

London Borough of Sutton Council has approved the redevelopment of 27-29 High Street in Carshalton, Surrey. Designed by Garnett Architecture LLP for MAPLESPRING LIMITED Ltd, this 9,000sqft scheme will replace an existing single-storey retail building with a modern three-storey mixed-use structure. The project includes two commercial/retail units and nine residential flats, promising a vibrant addition to the area.

The unanimous decision by the Council’s Town Planning sub-committee is a significant step towards realizing the local plan policy’s vision for enhancing Carshalton’s historic high street. By transforming a brownfield site previously considered detrimental in the Conservation Area Appraisal, this scheme is poised to breathe new life into the centre of the ancient village.

Special thanks to D&M Planning Ltd Ltd led by Matt Smith (MRTPI), Jennifer Cooke, and Steven Parsons M.C.I.H.T. for their invaluable contributions to this transformative project.
