Neal Street Design Contest Win
GarnettArchitecture have been appointed by Shaftesbury on a new office project in Neal Street, Covent Garden, London WC2 following a limited design contest. The scheme for nos. 30 & 32 involves remodelling and extending the classic 19th Century mixed use warehouse building. GA’s architectural concept, which is ‘Subject to Planning’, involves new lightweight metal clad and glass roof structures, designed externally to follow the existing urban grain of the Seven Dials Conservation Area. The proposed extension will be stepped back from the main elevations to provide a private external amenity space with views down Neal Street. GA are already working in Neal Street for the same client for projects at nos. 39-45, 55-57 and at nearby at 16-20 Shorts Gardens, and look forward to developing the preliminary concept ideas with Project Managers F&T and Planning Consultants Rolfe Judd.
